Formed after President Abraham Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation, the 54th Massachusetts was the first regiment of African American soliders. Twenty-four men from Chemung County served in the regiment.
The Massachusetts 54th Colored Infantry is free and open to the public. And the popcorn is on us!
