I will introduce the basic spear training exercises and the traditional first form of the Wu Style spear. Spear training is an integral component of Tai Chi practice. It is used to develop body unity and relaxed power with the ability to release power from the lower tantien. It strengthens the waist and the wrists and is used for aerobic conditioning. The spear form teaches the practitioner to relax when there is resistance and to mobilize the mind and body to move the spear or staff.
