Bears, bears and more bears! It's Bear Awareness Weekend, and it's fun for everyone

Sunday, May 19, 2013 9:30a to 5:00p

Bears are the teachers this weekend. They'll tear into a mockup of an "unsafe" campsite so visitors can learn how best to coexist with them in nature.

Then keepers will show how to camp safely in bear country. They’ll demonstrate proper food storage and discuss camping etiquette that can discourage bears from targeting campsites.

Visitors can also talk to the keeper who cares for grizzly and black bears and learn what it's like to work with some of the most powerful mammals in North America.
