Sunday, May 19, 2013 1:30p
Weaver Memorial Library East Providence, RI

In 1883 Belgian writer Jules Leclercq spent ten days on horseback in Yellowstone, exploring its astonishing geysers, majestic waterfalls, the vast lake, and the breathtaking canyon. A sensation in Europe, his book, Yellowstone, Land of Wonders: Promenade in North America’s National Park was never published in English until now. Translators Suzanne Cane and Janet Chapple discuss Leclercq’s book and show slides of its beautiful 19th century engravings as well as images of Yellowstone today.
