The Makers of Modern Rhode Island 1790-1860

Monday, May 6, 2013 7:00p
Weaver Memorial Library East Providence, RI

Patrick T. Conley, Rhode Island Historian Laureate, will present his two newest books, The Makers of Modern Rhode Island 1790-1860 and People, Places, Laws, and Lore of the Ocean State. Considered local history samplers, Conley’s latest Rhode Island chapters are never dry history. Samuel Slater, Elizabeth Buffum Chace, founder of the RI Women’s Suffrage Association, and Governor Thomas Wilson Dorr are just a sampling of the colorful biographical sketches of influential Rhode Islanders.
