Presented by Duke Performances. Ari Picker is best known as the front man for the acclaimed orchestral indie rock band Lost in the Trees, but the Chapel Hill native also distinguished himself studying composition at Berklee School of Music. For 'Lion and the Lamb,' a Duke Performances commission, Picker assembles a superb local ensemble of both indie rock and classical musicians for a new work inspired by Book of Hours, Rainer Maria Rilke’s masterpiece of devotional poetry.

Guitarist Ari Picker was a member of the B-Sides from Chapel Hill, NC, along with his childhood friend Noah Smith, Travis Horton, Eric Kuhn, and Ken Mosher. The group released an EP, Two Beautiful Beachers, and an album, Yes, Indeed, the B-Sides, Quite! (2001), on which Picker co-wrote all but one of the tracks, before Horton and Kuhn left....
