“Sacred Witness: Religion and the Black Freedom Struggle”
In a year in which we mark both the 150th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation and the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington, we can reflect on the factors that shaped these pivotal events in American history. In her talk, Evelyn Brooks Higginbotham will explore the ways that religion permeated the vernacular of the abolitionist and civil rights movements.
This event is open to the public and will be followed by a reception afterwards.
