The Long Sleep: Plant Dormancy
What is really happening inside dormant plants? They seem to be neither alive nor dead, perhaps instead in a strange twilight state. Join Boyd Strain, Duke professor emeritus of botany and past director of the Duke University Phytotron, as he explores the external signals that cue a plant into and out of dormancy. Boyd will discuss the basics of what we know about dormancy and then extend the idea to cover the impact of global warming on dormancy and partner animals and insects.
