Exhibit: Santa Rita Jail; Gone But Not Forgotten
Friday, Oct 24 1:00p
Dublin Heritage Park & Museums
Dublin,
CA
Santa Rita Jail began as a Naval Disciplinary Barracks (or Brig) in 1944 and later became a model "County Farm." The original Santa Rita Jail was designed to be self-sufficient, at least in terms of food. Prisoners tended crops including hay for hogs and cattle as well as fruits and vegetables. This exhibit will explore those early days of the "Hog Farm" to the modern facility of today.
