Detroit Public Library (Friends Auditorium)

As the James Tatum Foundation for the Arts celebrates two decades of nurturing talented students in the arts and educating the community about jazz music, the non-profit 501(c)3 organization is proud to present its 20th Annivesary Scholarship Awards Ceremony: Beyond The Horizon, featuring the final competition performances in dance, voice, instrumental, dramatics and visual arts categories.

More than 200 guests are expected to pour into the library's auditorium at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 9, 2007, in the Friends Auditorium at the Detroit Public Library, 5201 Woodward Ave., Detroit, Michigan, to witness Michigan’s most treasured talents perform for an opportunity that will shape their artistic and educational paths for a lifetime.

Towards the conclusion of the event, guests will be treated to Tatum’s original composition “The Great Detroit Renaissance,” featuring Foundation alumna Jeanetta Carr (contralto), The James Tatum Trio Plus, and a guest choir.
