The Bluebird Theater was built in 1913 and originally named after the prominent Denver grocer and druggest, John Thompson. The Theater was renamed in 1922 and became an important part of the community. The theater was initially a movie house and went through various phases over the years. The Theater was renamed in 1922 and became an important part of the community. The theater was initially a movie house and went through various phases over the years. In 1994, Chris Swank and a business partner invested in the Bluebird and it re-opened as the mecca for rock music that you know today.
The theater is laid out in three tiers with a bar at the top and a balcony overlooking the entire theater. Seating and tables are arranged according to the type of entertainment being offereed. These go fast for the more popular shows but if you're desperate for a seat, there's always the balcony!
A diverse range of entertainers have performed at the Bluebird from the mellow jazz violinist Jean Luc-Ponty to such acts as Oasis, Creed, Beth Orton, Cowboy Junkies, and The Vines.

Born in Michigan and partially raised in Germany, he dropped out of the University of Texas at El Paso to front his first band, the funk and rap outfit Joe Rockhead....
