An Introduction to Brainspotting for Trauma Treatment in Recovery
In this two hour introductory presentation, participants will be exposed to the: history and background of brainspotting; at least 3 forms of basic brainspotting for trauma and disturbance which can be used with recovering people; the use of the pointer, and case examples highlighting the use of basic brainspotting and benefits to each person.

Objectives Participants will be able to:
1) Identify subjective units of distrubance regarding a particular trauma or "upset" in their own lives. 2) Identify what a Disturbance Brain Spot is and how to find it. 3) Recognize what a Resource Spot is and how to find it.

ABOUT The Speaker Dr. Joanne Baum earned her doctoral degree at The University of Wisconsin in 1979. She has taught at the Universities and community colleges. Joanne began her career in substance abuse as the co-Clinical Director at the Haight Ashbury Free Medical Clinic working with street junkies addicted to heroin and professionals who found themselves addicted to cocaine in the early '80s. Since then Joanne has been in private practice, first in California, later in Colorado, and now on the road through Skype sessions from around the country. Joanne has published 4 books, 2 on substance abuse and two on parenting; utilizing Respectful Parenting, a set of theories and strategies Joanne has a trademark on.
Joanne has been doing interventions since 1984. Her specialties include substance abuse (assessments/evaluations), interventions, continuing care, and relapse prevention, individual and couples counseling around substance abuse and addiction. Dr. Baum recently added Brainspotting to her specialties, becoming certified in Brainspotting in 2013. In addition, Joanne does marital counseling, divorce coaching and trauma work.
Joanne is travelling around the country in a large fifth wheel with her husband and continuing to do the work she loves via Skype and interventions in person.
