Gabriel Fauré: Requiem
Fauré composed his best-known work, Requiem, in 1887, purely, as he said, for the pleasure of it. The first performance took place at the fashionable church of The Madeleine in Paris where he was choirmaster, on January 16, 1888. This full program features the combined vocal forces of the Saint John’s Cathedral and Saint Andrew’s Episcopal Church Choirs along with the musicians of the Colorado Chamber Players.
