Pots and Pans, Tables and Chairs: Decorative Arts in French Paintings from the Wadsworth Atheneum
Hamilton Building - Lower Level
Join scholar Michael Hall for a lecture that will look at depictions of the decorative arts in French paintings from the late 17th to the early 19th century. Are they accurate? What can they tell us about society, class and fashion in Paris and the French provinces, courtly or peasant life? The clues are all there and can be unraveled to reflect changing tastes and developing styles.
Doors open at 5 pm.
