25 Youth between the ages of 7-18 will bring their performance art piece,  God Bless The Child,  to the stage this February in honor of Billie Holiday and Black History Month.… Show more  Fusing Dance, Spoken Word and Song, they have spent six weeks together creating a chorus of movement and voice that seeks to invoke the deep soul of the great jazz artist, Billie Holiday and The Harlem Renaissance. Featuring interpretations of the classics: Eeny Meenie Miny Mo, Blue Moon, Strangefruit, and In My Solitude.
Each group has worked with  internationally acclaimed, Best of Westword, award-winning guest artists in Dance, Music and Spoken Word  including the study of Sol Vida Technique. Featured guest artists are:  Axé, Panama Soweto, Abi McGaha Miller, and Babah Fly and Holly Kai Hurd.
Please join us for the premiere instillation of The Denver Dance Project this February. With some light and some heavier moments, each group will dance to an original remix of Billie Holiday’s timeless music, as well as perform original poetry, choreography and song. The Denver Dance Project:Â In an effort to keep dance and art at the cutting edge in Denver, The Denver Dance Project (The DDP) was born to give youth a voice and opportunity to shine with their personal expression. The DDP is an outlet for youth to engage in thematic instillation dance, performance art, and multimedia projects.
Sol Vida Dance: Sol Vida Dance  has been devoted to creating local and worldly dance, performing arts, cultural arts and educational experiences for youth and adults since 2003. Sol Vida Dance Studio is the home of  Unwind + Grind  and  The Denver Dance Project.  We offer  rental space,  community classes, workshops, intensives, summer camps and  an  annual festival all open to the Denver community.
