You are invited to join this intimate, three-part workshop to locate your voice, write brilliant material completely unique to you, and perform as a stand-up comic–all… Show more in a nurturing, supportive and creative environment. You’ll have a great time, bond with other creative people, and learn essential comedic skills. You’ll be free to loosen up, experiment, laugh a lot and know yourself as a comic. And you get to be in a show!
This workshop will help you learn how to... - Access your funny. - Dissolve your fear of public speaking. - Locate and express your unique voice. - Share your best, most intimate stories in a funny way. - Jump start your comedy and speaking career. - Humor-ize your presentations. - Learn how to inspire and engage your audience. - Spark your creativity. - Learn how to write powerful, effective material. ...and have fun! Who am I, anyway? I’m your coach. I'm a professional writer and comedian. I've performed in clubs, colleges, theaters and on television, over 3,000 times. I have extensive training in improvisational comedy as well as a degree in creative writing. I’m going to teach you and love you throughout this process so you’ll be a great success! Stage 1: The Workshop Sunday, July 8, 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. We’ll use improvisational and writing exercises to discover what you’re dying to say. You’ll learn how to write great material completely unique to you, and you’ll learn the nuts and bolts of comedic delivery. You’ll also have a lot of fun doing it! By the end of the day you’ll know just what you want to express and what’s so funny, anyway. Stage 2: Development During the couple of weeks between the workshop and the show, we’ll get together for two conference calls where we can share our concerns, brainstorm ideas, and support each other in refining our material and organizing our set list. I’ll also coach you privately and help you prepare your material. I’ll hold your hand so you are ready for the big show! Stage 3: The Show Tuesday, July 24, 7:30 PM Here’s where you get to shine! You’ll perform stand-up comedy at the D Note, a cool performance venue in Old Town Arvada. You’ll get to perform on a great stage with professional sound and lighting. You’ll be introduced by a professional emcee (me!) and loved by a warm, enthusiastic audience of friends and family. You’re set up to win! And I’ll provide you with a DVD of the show. Really? How much? $397 gets you the whole enchilada: the six-hour workshop, conference calls, personal coaching, uber-support and the opportunity to perform live, stand-up comedy.
