From Lawson Taitte, The Dallas Morning News: Stephen Sondheim more or less invented the concept musical, in which a theme rather than a straightforward story shapes the show. Surely the strangest such musical of all is his Asssassins, in which all the successful murderers of American presidents (and some of the unsuccessful ones as well) sing about what made them want to do it.
