21st Annual Gardere MLK Jr. Oratory Competition
The competition is held in conjunction with MLK Day to encourage the community to reflect on MLK's valuable contributions as a civil rights leader. Incorporating ideals from MLK Jr.’s writing & speeches, fourth- and fifth-grade students compose & present original speeches addressing the topic: “If you could talk directly to Dr. King about your dream for our future, what would you tell him?" Throughout all stages of the competition, students are judged on delivery, content & memorization.
