Best Steak bad Company

This is the 4th or 5th time we have gone to this up-market establishment. Always through Opentable, mind. Well last night was all but dull, first we get sat at a terrible table, in the corner, behind a pillar, next a huge party (i.e. no service), so we got moved. Moved to possibly a worse spot, great purview of the restaurant, busy yet anonymous, all good, except for the drunken trailer trash couple sitting next to us. Both where completely buzzed by the starter, loud, ignorant and crude. Here is where I'd say an expensive meal could be spoilt by inexperienced staff, not at Alex's, thankfully they where hastened out and we "Again" enjoyed a fabulous meal. Yes I went for the usual, NY-Strip but combined with a fresh and clean salad, it was all about quality. Great service, great food (Sundance in Palo Alto should take a leaf from these guys), understated ambience and comfortable eating experience.

An amazing find!

This is definitely the best place to get a steak in town. Hands down, you will find a steak here and enjoy it. If you don't eat meat, a steak house probably isn't for you, but they do have amazingly done fish dishes and surprisingly filling salads (with or without the meat).

If you are looking for a place to celebrate a special occasion, there are few places better to celebrate it. If you don't have a solid amount of coin, I would take a pass though. With great food can come a hefty price, and Alexander's is no exception. You can spend well over $200.00 on some Kobe beef here, which I honestly think is great, but you will be just as satisfied with the $38.00 regular beef steaks here as well.

If the price really throws you off and you are willing to travel a short distance, I recommend Forbes Mill Steakhouse as a great substitute. If I had to compare these establishments to grades of gasoline, Alexander's is premium and Forbes Mill is Plus.

Kobe beef anyone?

Besides the Ritz, Alexander's is the only other place to get Kobe beef. Who can resist Kobe beef? Yum!

The other part I love about Alexanders is their dessert menu. The desserts are petite in size, but because they're so small, you can choose a couple of different desserts without feeling like a pig!

Also, after our dinner, we got a stick of cotton candy. Most restaurants provide fortune cookies or an after-dinner mint, but cotton candy? Hrm.. an interesting ending for the night. I assume that their after-dinner surprise is different for each season?week?etc.
