The Performing Arts Center is committed to supporting artistic excellence on all of its stages and engaging the entire community in new and exciting ways through an array of inspiring programs.
The Orange County Performing Artscenter opened in 1986 with its 3,000-seat Segerstrom Hall and intimate 250-seat Founders Hall. In 2006, the Performing Artscenter expanded its venues to include the 2,000-seat Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall and 500-seat multi-functional Samueli Theater. The Performing Artscenter’s new facility, which also includes a studio theater and education lab, joins the adjacent Tony® Award-winning South Coast Repertory and a site for a future visual arts complex to create Segerstrom Center for the Arts. A 46,000-square-foot outdoor community plaza unites all of the venues to create one of the largest performing arts campuses in the United States.
The Orange County Performing Artscenter presents a broad range of programming each season, including international ballet and dance, national tours of top Broadway shows, intimate performances of jazz and cabaret, classical music performed by renowned chamber orchestras and ensembles, family-friendly programming and many other special events.
The Performing Artscenter offers many programs designed to inspire young people through the arts. These programs reach more than 500,000 students of all ages with vital arts-in-education programs, enhancing their studies and enriching their lives well into the future.
The Performing Artscenter is proud to serve as the artistic home to the region’s major performing arts organizations: Pacific Symphony, the Philharmonic Society of Orange County, Opera Pacific and the Pacific Chorale.
Direct from Broadway, the smash-hit musical AMERICAN IDIOT tells the story of three lifelong friends, forced to choose between their dreams and the safety of suburbia. Their quest for true meaning in a post 9/11 world leads them on the most exhilarating theatrical journey of the season....
Performer James Powell has been part of '90s London stage productions such as Les Miserables and Listen to the Wind. He should not be confused with British recording artists such as the drummer James Powell -- who is Georgie Fame's son -- or the soulful leader of Jimmy Powell & the Dimensions....
Of the artists who rose to popularity as part of the new age music boom of the 1980s and '90s, few (if any) enjoyed greater or more lasting success than Yanni. Composing and performing instrumental music with a pronounced sense of drama, dynamics, and romanticism, Yanni broke through to a significantly larger audience than his peers, thanks to adult alternative radio airplay and a commanding performance style that attracted fans through frequent appearances on public television as well as world-wide concert tours....
LA CAGE tells the story of Georges (played by George Hamilton), the owner of a glitzy nightclub in lovely Saint-Tropez, and his partner Albin, who moonlights as the glamorous chanteuse Zaza. When Georges' son brings his fiancée's conservative parents home to meet the flashy pair, the bonds of family are put to the test as the feather boas fly! LA CAGE is a tuneful and touching tale of one family's struggle to stay together....
One of the most original guitarists from the '80s onward (he is instantly recognizable), Pat Metheny is a chance-taking player who has gained great popularity but also taken some wild left turns. His records with the Pat Metheny Group are difficult to describe (folk-jazz? mood music?) but managed to be both accessible and original, stretching the boundaries of jazz and making Metheny famous enough that he could perform whatever type of music he wanted without losing his audience....
Since its formation in 1976, the Emerson String Quartet has gradually achieved recognition as one of the world's top chamber ensembles. The group's reputation partially rests upon its daring interpretations of core string quartet repertory; it has performed the complete quartet cycles of Beethoven, Shostakovich, Mendelssohn, and Bartók in major concert halls around the world, and its interpretations tend toward the personal, the passionate, and even the hell-for-leather....
The international percussion sensation utilizing a variety of drums, objects, house-hold items and even bananas to express their artistic craft. With "Stomp Out Loud," the experience is transformed for Las Vegas with new sequences and choreography, a dynamically expanded cast and a completely new environment immerses the audience from the moment they enter the 1,500-seat theatre....
Singer/pianist Michael Feinstein was both a prime motivator and a beneficiary of a renewed interest in pre-rock popular music that started in the 1980s, a trend that also found Linda Ronstadt selling millions of copies of albums of traditional pop made with conductor Nelson Riddle and that fueled the success of Harry Connick Jr....

The Performing Arts Center features a diverse selection of great performing artists, broadway shows, operas, symphony orchestra, and singers. It's a great alternative for experiencing art and culture if you're not willing to trek to LA. The venue is quite elegant and is located conveniently across from South Coast Plaza where you can take advantage of the shopping center's free parking! ;)
