John Neumeier's thoughtful story adaptations have shed light onto well known tales, seamlessly combining story, movement, music and visual imagery. For the Center’s Exclusive Southern California engagement presented by Hamburg Ballet, Neumeier has created a modern but timeless interpretation to celebrate Hans Christian Andersen’s 200th birthday. This beloved story is a dramatic tale that contrasts the simplicity and mystery of underwater life with the worldly nature of humans.
