We apologize for any inconvenience, especially to the 25 children… Show more from Columbia Bethlehem Community Center/We Connected Productions who participated in our Oscar Micheaux Promising Young Filmmakers Program, and made 2 short films, CHOICES & The Right Path on a cellphone that were to screen at the 5th RBP 2nd HIP HOP Summit, which was to feature HIP HOP Legend, Professor Griff of Public Enemy, 2013 Inductees into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Mama C from Tanzania, Africa; as well as, other local Artists & Experts. In addition to the Saturday event, our Children/Foreign Film Programming that was scheduled for Sunday, 2.10.13 at Benedict has also been cancelled.
In essence, the 5th REEL Black Pix: Global Afrikan Film Series is a Pan-African Film & Cultural Arts Festival, that screens films by or about African people from throughout the Global African Disapora and is an opprotunity to travel the world without boarding a plane. So please join us as we host Internationally renown Poet/Artist, Mama C, who'll be coming to Columbia from Tanzania, Africa, where she's lived for over 40 years. She's the subject of a film by UNC Professor of Women's Studies, Joanne Hershfield called, Mama C: Urban Warrior in the African Bush, that we'll be screening on Sunday.

2.7.13 - Mama C will perform with Skipp Pearson & the JAZZ Workshop @Hunter Gatherer on Thursday, February 7, from 9pm-12am
2.8.13 - Mama C speaks to students at Columbia College from 1pm-2pm.
2.8.13 - Host, Azikiwe "Zik" Chandler, son of Osei Terry Chandler, who hosts SC-ETV Radio's, The Roots Musik Karamu, will MC a Global African Music Jam Session & Dance as Baba Seitu welcomes Mama C at a @Taste of Jamaica, 3123 Beltline Blvd. Columbia, SC from 7pm-12am. $5 admission includes a FREE screening of the film, MARLEY, a Bio-pic doc. on Legendary Reggae Poet, Robert "Nesta" Marley.
2.9.13 - 5th RBP screenings at Bugsy Calhoun's, The REEL Black Pix, 3 Round Knockout $500 SLAM takes place at Ella's Cafe & Lounge, 1117 E. Augusta St in West Columbia, SC 29160, include Highlights from the 4th RBP, HIP HOP Summit featuring Professor Griff & E. Raymond Brown, Co-Director of Ghetto Physics and HOODWINKED, which was scheduled to screen at Summit.
On Sunday afternoon HeTePu Productions & BangWa will have a private screening of Mama C: Urban Warrior in the African Bush and Nigerian Director, Kelechi Eke's, LOST IN ABROAD from 3pm-8pm. RSVP is required to attend at 803.553.5634.
