Come on out for our annual Young People’s Open Stage event It’s always a very special night for us; several different solos, duets and larger ensembles will light it up. These are young people for whom passive listening isn’t enough; they’re making their own music, and quite well. Following our young performers, we’ll have a group that’s making its fourth appearance with us and whose mission is to bring folk… Show more styles from around the world to our local schools. Safe Harbor, also known as the Swallow Hill Traveling Folk Troupe, has been in existence for over 15 years. Based in Denver and formed by multi-instrumentalist and singer Julie Davis, the band travels the Front Range, playing folk music from all over the planet: Russian dance tunes, Chinese folk melodies, American blues and bluegrass, Cuban Son, African rhythms, and Indian ragas to teach and entertain people of all ages. They bring a wide breadth of styles and instruments, and it’s a musical eye-opener for anyone who’s young, or just young at heart.
