"Indian Corner" reception and gallery talk by exhibition curator Wendy Red Star

On Friday, February 24 from 4:30 – 6pm, the exhibition Indian Corner opens in IDEA Space with a free reception and gallery talk by exhibition curator Wendy Red Star. • Born in Billings, Montana Wendy Red Star grew up on the Crow Indian reservation and her work explores the intersection between life on the Crow Indian reservation and the world outside of that environment where she was raised. Issues of multiculturalism are personally and culturally significant to her as her mother is of Irish decent, her father is a full blood Crow Indian and her older sister is Korean. Red Star studied sculpture at Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana and earned an MFA in sculpture from UCLA. She currently lives in Portland, Oregon where she is an adjunct professor of art at Portland State University.
