Piotique (Pie-O-Teek) Festival

Saturday, Sep 28, 2013 10:00a
City of Clay Center Clay Center, KS

The Piotique Festival is always the last Saturday in September. It began in 1936 to celebrate the opening of Highway 24 west of Clay Center and the bridge over the Republican River at Wakefield that opened the doors for commerce. Needing a special name for this celebration, a contest was held and Mrs. Ed Cody won first prize for the unique name of "Piotique" (Pi-o-teek), a combination of Pioneer and Antique.
5,000 attendees expected.
