The music of Tan Dun, Oscar- and Grammy-winning composer of the film score Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, is the lead-in to two celebrated classics. Henning Kraggerud, the impressive Norwegian artist whose ample gifts are well-known to CSO audiences, performs Mendelssohn’s poetic Violin Concerto. The decidedly Bohemian Symphony No. 7, a symphony many consider to be Dvořák’s best, magnificently expresses the spirit of his Czech homeland.
