In an example to other marketers, 7-11 has done an amazing job bringing the Simpsons to their stores and, if this Chicago location was anything to go by, people will come from miles around to buy the products and have their photos taken in front of Apu's Kwik-E-Mart.
Once inside, you are greeted by fun point-of-sales materials ("our hot dogs are bunly delicious") and a small range of specially created products that regular Simpsons viewers will love - Buzz Cola, Squishees (the Simpsons' version of Slurpees), the original Radiation Man comic, Krusty-O's cereal and, of course, Homer's favorite pink sprinkled donuts. Add to these a ton of bobblehead toys and other memorabilia plus big plastic models of the main characters and you'd swear you were in Springfield.
When we got there around 10am, they were already sold out of Krusty-O's, so we had to gorge ourselves instead on Homer's donuts (mmm...donuts) and stock up on Buzz Cola.
If you get the chance, definitely drop by. Yes, Buzz Cola is probably terrible (I haven't tried mine yet) but hey, the donuts are great and there's nothing like a Squishee to beat the Chicago city heat.
