Hanson
Sounding like a revamped Jackson 5 for the '90s, Hanson came storming out of Tulsa, OK, in 1997, blessed with photogenic looks and a surprisingly infectious sense of melody. Hanson had a sunny pop sense that stood in direct contrast to the gloomy grunge that had dominated the first half of the '90s, yet they also arrived with hip credentials -- a handful of the cuts on their debut were produced by the Dust Brothers (Beastie Boys, Beck, Sukia), and the rest were produced by Steve Lironi, who helmed Black Grape's debut....

Steel Train
Much like Southern rock revivalists My Morning Jacket and Kings of Leon, Steel Train take a post-punk approach to the hoary sounds of '70s album-oriented rock. Taking their name from a Bob Marley song, singer Scott Irby-Ranniar and guitarist Jack Antonoff formed Steel Train as a New York busking duo in 1999, two years after Irby-Ranniar originated the role of Young Simba in the Broadway musical The Lion King....

Hellogoodbye
A group of quirky, fun-loving emo-rockers from California, Hellogoodbye seem to take as much influence from modern pop-punk as they do from the original Nintendo sound bleeps that held children captive in the late '80s....

Sherwood
Not many bands that have played the Vans Warped Tour claim the Beatles and the Beach Boys as their musical idols. Sherwood, an indie quintet from San Luis Obispo, CA, fit neatly alongside the pop-punk likes of Yellowcard and other post-Green Day acts, but with an unapologetic power pop side that gives them a distinctly melodic edge....

I thought at first I'd cringe going back to those old videos, but no. They were fun then, and they're fun now. Furthermore, the most little 90's boy band may also just turn out to be the most grown up.
