Albany Restaurant Bar

The Albany is a family owned restaurant, and that means great service and great food. It is not a fast-food, cookie cutter type of establishment.

The Albany Building was constructed around 1900. It was once a hotel upstairs and a Lobby/Restaurant and Bar on the ground floor.

In 1942 James G. (Blackie) Kallas and James A. (Uncle Jim) Kallas opened the Albany Restaurant after remodeling and refurnishing the interior. George and Gus Kallas are the current owners of the Albany, the sons of Blackie Kallas. As young boys Gus and George worked in the family business starting as bus boys and dishwashers, then learning to wait tables and were taught to learn correct food handling and old style cooking.

The Albany has established a restaurant with a very loyal customer base. A very experienced kitchen staff is employed. All of the soups, sauces, gravies and salad dressings are prepared from scratch. All of the steaks and chops are cut on the premises. Only the freshest ingredients available are used and time tested and proven recipes developed by the family and staff are employed. Our Bar and Lounge is a very comfortable place to meet for drinks and appetizers. Unlike some Bar/Restaurant combinations, you will find the prices very reasonable. There are both early and late happy hours, 16 real cold draft beers on tap, a large selection of hard liquor to choose from, bottled beers and wine. It’s a fun, relaxing place to be.

A Store Separate from the restaurant and bar is the Big Discount Liquor Store. Shop there for price and selection. A large inventory of domestic, import and micro beers is stocked.
