Chestertown Tea Party Festival
Chestertown, founded 1706, had become political & shipbuilding center of Maryland's Eastern Shore. As declaration of deep sentiments leading to American Revolution, local Tea Party took place in sympathy with Boston. Militant group of Chestertown residents boarded brigantine Geddes; overpowered British resistance & dumped dutiable tea in Chester River. Annual Tea Party is re-enacted along with crafts, parade, re-enactment, 5 & 10 Mile Run.
