The Age of Confidence
At the turn of the century, it seemed as if the United States was on the verge of a new era, in which technology and American determination would allow us to truly dominate nature. John Bowditch, director of exhibits emeritus at the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum, will show how, with the sinking of the Titanic and the horrors of World War I, the “age of confidence” was revealed to be an illusion. This presentation is part of a series of programs.
