the oratorio singers and guest soprano ute selbig join christof perick and the orchestra for a celebration of the master beethoven with three great works. Referred to by the composer as "my little one," the Eighth Symphony is Beethoven's shortest and most cheerful. In the dramatic scene and aria "Ah, Perfido!," for soprano and orchestra, the spurned Deidamia laments the loss of her lover, Achilles. Beethoven's magnificent Mass in C Major was composed about the same time as his Fifth and Sixth Symphonies.
