Children's Workshop: Japanese Stab Binding
Saturday, Mar 23 9:00a
Charleston Library Society
Charleston,
SC
The Library Society is offering a fun workshop to expose children to the wonderful world of bookbinding. Students will construct a book in the Japanese Stab tradition, which has been used since ancient times as an elegant and reliable method of binding. They will begin with the blank sheets, build a cover to size, and bind it all together. They will be taught basics of bookbinding, such as paper grain, book anatomy, craftsmanship, and above all, how working with glue doesn't have to be messy!
