Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1
Gabriel Fauré’s Suite from Pelléas et Mélisande was derived from music from the play of the same name, but re-orchestrated for a larger force of musicians. Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 is one of the best known piano concerti in history. In honor of the anniversary of Prokoviev’s death and keeping with the dramatic theme, the CSO tells the story of the tragic star-crossed lovers through excerpts from the ballet Romeo and Juliet.
