Piedmont Savanna Ecology Course
This course intends to introduce students of varying backgrounds to the rare Piedmont savanna plant community. Discusses the ecological history of the Piedmont savanna, evaluating the roles of climate, disturbance, & humans in grassland establishment and persistence. Discusses soil, flora, & fauna with emphasis on rare and threatened species. Reviews the current status & future of this rare plant community. Field trip to two restoration sites. No prereqs.
