Which Way the Wind Blows: Antique American Weathervanes

Thursday, Jun 20, 2013 9:30a to 4:30p

Viewed today as folk art, the weathervane was one of the earliest sculptural forms in the United States. Colonial craftsmen fashioned unique weathervanes which were later imitated, mass-produced and offered through mail-order catalogues. The exhibition, which will include 28 weathervanes, covers the variety of forms popular in this country as well as the finer points of interest to collectors including finishes, manufacturers and matters of authenticity.
