Reuben H. Fleet Science Center Carmel Valley, CA

On March 26, 2012, James Cameron (National Geographic Explorer-in-Residence) became the first person in history to reach the Earth's deepest known point as a solo pilot, successfully piloting the DeepSea Challenger nearly 36,000 feet to the Mariana Trench. The dive was part of the DeepSea Challenge Expedition, a series of dives to investigate the New Britain and Mariana Trenches. Lecture begins at 10:30 AM with IMAX viewing of "Deep Sea" at 12:00.
