This is a Power lifting competition open to entry for all University Students. Two forms of Id will be required on the day; a valid student Id and regular form of ID.
You… Show more will have 3 attempts to perform your 1RM in Squat, Bench Press and Deadlift. Your top scores from the three lifts will be added together to give your total.
Competitors will weigh in on the day and compete in the following weight categories:
Men’s: 59.0 kg Class up to 59.0 kg 66.0 kg Class from 59.01 kg up to 66.0 kg 74.0 kg Class from 66.01 kg up to 74.0 kg 83.0 kg Class from 74.01 kg up to 83.0 kg 93.0 kg Class from 83.01 kg up to 93.0 kg 105.0 kg Class from 93.01 kg up to 105.0 kg 120.0 kg Class from 105.01 kg up to 120.0 kg 120.0+ kg Class from 120.01 kg up to unlimited Women’s: 47.0 kg Class up to 47.0 kg 52.0 kg Class from 47.01 kg up to 52.0 kg 57.0 kg Class from 52.01 kg up to 57.0 kg 63.0 kg Class from 57.01 kg up to 63.0 kg 72.0 kg Class from 63.01 kg up to 72.0 kg 84.0 kg Class from 72.01 kg up to 84.0 kg 84.0+ kg Class from 84.01 kg up to unlimited
TO Register please buy a ‘Competition Entry’ from the purchase menu. The Entrance fee is £15. Places are limited so please buy your entry Asap. Once you have purchased your entry you'll be sent two application forms to fill in. Spectator entry is free but you must register in the purchase menu.
Winners -Winner in Every Category for the Highest Total -Winner across all the categories for the highest Bench Press, Squat and Deadlift separately. (Competitors can choose to only enter individual lifts should you wish to do so) -The Main Winners will be the winners for the overall highest male and female Wilks scores. Who will be crowned MASS's Most Powerful Man & Woman for the region. -A University Team winner, the University whose four highest scoring competitors’ Wilks scores average out to give the highest overall total will be crowned the Most Powerful University Team. (Bring as many competitors as you can and we will take the highest 4 scores on the day)
Prizes Huge prizes will be up for grabs for the winners. Full prize details TBA. Event is open to further sponsorship. Please email info@thebodymass.org if interested.
Times Competitors should arrive from 10am-10.30am to weigh in and register! At 10.30am we will explain the running order for the day and give demonstration as to what technique will be acceptable and what will be flagged, after which the fun will begin at 10.45am :P.
Parking & Travel There is plenty of parking available. The nearest rail station is cardiff central station which is a 7 minute walk from the venue.
Rules The Student Powerlifting Championship will be following the International Powerlifting Federation's Technical Rules book: http://www.powerlifting-ipf.com/fileadmin/data/Technical_Rules/IPF_rulebook_01_2012.pdf Belts and knee sleeves are allowed. Wrist straps and knee wraps are Not allowed.
GBPF The Mass Games Student Powerlifting Championship is affiliated with the Great British Powerlifting Federation (GBPF). It's worth looking around at everything that's going on on the GBPF website (http://www.gbpf.org.uk/), this will give you a good feel of what powerlifting's all about. GBPF officials will be referreeing the competition.
