A ballsy boy band who write their own songs, dig the beach boys and were most recently sighted standing up to gordon ramsay (sort of). It can only be mcfly (named after michael j. Fox's character in sci-fi spoof back to the future). Formed in london in 2004, their debut album room on the 3rd floor was a refreshing mix of pre-beatles influences (bill haley, chuck berry) and teenage diary entries which entered the charts at number one and caused a generation of pop fans to pester their parents for guitar lessons.equally successful follow up wonderland repeated the process while challenging their largely pre-pubescent audience to broaden their musical horizons (notably with the aptly entitled orchestral two-parter ?she falls asleep?).headline slots at the japanese leg of live 8 and at a pre-g8 summit in glasgow may have been seen as a flagrant attempt to raise their profile amongst world leaders, but this youthful four piece (the oldest is twenty two) are as savvy as they are photogenic.
