Intro to Linux: From UNIX to Bedrock
This course will cover the installation, configuration, and use of multiple flavors (a.k.a. 'distributions') of Linux. We cover networking, adding additional programs, setting up the graphical user interface, rebuilding the linux kernel, updating software packages, understanding the filesystem, running basic commands and programs, administering your new system. If you have a laptop that you want to install Linux on, bring it to class! Otherwise, use the computers in our lab.
