Mercury Orchestra

Saturday, Jul 20, 2013 8:00p to 9:40p

The Mercury Orchestra, national winner of the 2010 American Prize in Orchestral Performance, commemorates the 100th anniversary of the wild, chaotic premiere of Stravinsky's Rite of Spring, with its relentless irregular driving rhythms, sharp harmonic ambiguities, and magnificent power. Rachmaninoff's Symphonic Dances, his final composition, fuses a similarly adamant kineticism with intensive, poignant, and beautiful lyricism. Channing Yu conducts.
