The Art of Chinese Calligraphy
In addition to their meaning, Chinese characters possess aesthetic qualities and appeal to the psyche. As such, Chinese calligraphy and painting materials are often a source of inspiration to artists in both the East and West. In this class, students will learn traditional Chinese calligraphy and then apply contemporary approaches to energize the medium and search for a personal voice in the practice. Materials will be discussed in first class, and should cost approximately $30.
