Introduction to Cartooning
After exploring the nature of cartoons and comics through examples from the past, we'll examine the principles of character design, visual viewpoint, scenery, props, and textual cues such as dialogue. Address the issue of timing using panel arrangement and discuss shading and color. You will draw cartoons or comic strips, either on your own or in collaboration with others, and see a demonstration of scanning, digital coloring and shading, and digital lettering.
