This class will provide a thorough introduction to the basics of batiking and silk painting. For the first half of term, students will learn how to apply wax with tjantings and brushes, employing a variety of techniques, fabrics and dyes. For the second half of term, we will investigate silk painting through the use of iron-fixed paints, gutta, salt effect and steam-fixed dyes.
