Explore alla prima — a direct, expressive style of oil painting in which wet paint is applied over still-wet paint — by working with life models and a single light source. We'll begin with monochrome portraits to learn values of light and dark, then graduate to a limited-palette portrait painting that translates values into color. Our final painting sessions will use a full-color palette. Drawing and painting experience is highly recommended.
