Figure Drawing (on the Right Side of the Brain)
Building on Betty Edward's "five pillars of perception" (edges, shapes, relationships, light and shadow, and the gestalt), we will systematically bypass certain ingrained perceptual habits and establish the solid basis needed for a confident, sensitive, and powerful figure drawing. Please bring 18" x 24" newsprint and white drawing paper, medium vine charcoal, and a 4B pure graphite pencil to the first class; a full materials list will be distributed in class.
