Treating History in Adolphus Busch Hall
Wednesday, Mar 28, 2012 3:30p
Harvard University: Adolphus Busch Hall
Cambridge,
MA
In light of an ongoing revitalization of Adolphus Busch Hall, Louise Orsini and Lynette Roth will examine the unique history of the building and the collections still housed within it. Emphasis will be placed on frescoes by American muralist Lewis W. Rubenstein, executed in "true fresco" technique and recently the subject of significant conservation treatment. Controversial even before their completion in 1936, the murals depict contemporary history in the guise of Nordic and Teutonic mythology.
