A strike is imminent at the Sleep- Tite Pajama Factory, where the workers churn out pajamas at a backbreaking pace. Enter new superintendent, Sid Sorokin, who is the front line against the union which is demanding a pay raise of 7 1/2 cents. To complicate Sid's life, he immediately falls for Babe, a leader of the opposing camp. Romance is also in the air as the efficiency expert, Hines, falls… Show more for Gladys, the president's secretary, while pilfering the key to "top secret" files that explain where that 7 1/2 cents has gone. Adler and Ross' famous score includes blockbuster songs: "Steam Heat," "Hey There!," and "Hernando's Hideaway"
