The St. Francis Terriers Men’s and Women’s Basketball Team both call the 2,000 seat Peter Aquilone Court their home. Games are attended by a dedicated following of current students, alumni and community members who make it a point to follow big time basketball in a small college environment. The Division I gymnasium, named the Geneveso Pope Physical Education Facility has a beautifully maintained hard wood floor, balcony and ample seating ringing the sides of the court.
Many future NBA and WNBA stars have played on the Peter Aquilone Court with their high school teams during one of the frequent major New York City public and parochial school basketball games and tournaments.
Even cast members from The Late Show with David Letterman have come to St. Francis to shoot a segment for the talk show.
The court is named after Peter Aquilone, the son of former Athletic Director and St. Francis Alumni Ed Aquilone ’60. Peter Aquilone helped design the Terrier athletic logo and shared his legal expertise, pro bono, to help the College navigate NCAA recruiting regulations.
