Bookbinding: The Art of the Handmade Book

Spend a weekend exploring the world of options available when creating handmade books. Techniques for choosing color, size, number of pages, types of paper and style of binding will all be introduced. This is a great opportunity to incorporate favorite materials such as found objects, beads, favorite poems, songs, images, fabrics, etc. Students will work with simple tools and traditional structures, all of which can be easily continued and elaborated on at home. Each participant will complete at least half a dozen books and leave with the knowledge and inspiration to create dozens more.
